GZA

If you are in Seattle on the 26th and don’t make it to Neumos Crysal Ball Reading Room for the GZA performance, you’re gonna feel like an ass reading our review of what is sure to be a ridiculous opportunity.  On Wu-Tang’s breakthrough album, Enter the 36 Chambers, the GZA is described as “the head” of the Clan’s metaphorical Voltron.  The legendary lyricist is releasing a brand new project, Pro-Tools, but what is so unique and amazing about this tour is that he’s not touring to necessarily and solely promote it.  Instead, he will be performing what is arguably one of the greatest rap albums of all time, his 1995 solo album Liquid Swords in its entirety.

Mike Gordon

The legendary former Phish bass player and Leo Kottke collaborator, Mike Gordon has embarked on a small club tour to promote his latest solo effort “The Green Sparrow“.  If you get a chance, go.  I’ve already heard extremely positive reviews from those in attendance for his High Sierra appearance with the same lineup earlier this year.  I haven’t seen most of these other venues, but I know the Tractor Tavern is Seattle and that place is small as fuck.  It is a rarity to see Gordon perform in such an intimate setting.  (I’m assuming it’s intimate, with scented candles,  low lighting, and muzak)

Patton Oswalt

Sure we trashed the film Rattatouile without ever seeing it, but we didn’t trash Patton Oswalt because we forgot he was in it.  That and because we love his comical chicanery like a bastard son who stole from us on Christmas and never calls.  If you need a reason to go see him live, to tip the scales in favor of you appearing at a stop on his current “Werewolves and Lollipops” tour go read the link to the speech that he he gave at his former highschool by clicking HERE
